Abstract:

To provide alkyl-etherified carboxyalkylcellulose having a high degree of alkyl-etherification substitution.

In a method for reacting carboxyalkylcellulose (A) and an alkylating agent (D) by using an alkali (E), a predetermined solvent is used. Thereby, an objective compound is obtained in a high yield and a compound having an effective purity is obtained by an industrial production method.
