Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject surfactant capable of reducing both the equilibrium surface tension and dynamic surface tension of a water-based composition by including an effective amount of a specific alkylated amino ether compound.
SOLUTION: This surfactant comprises an alkylated amino ether of the formula ((n) is 2-6; (m) is 0-4; (p) and (q) are each 2-6; R and R' and each a 5-18C alkyl), being used through addition to a water-based composition containing an organic compound (e.g. an organic coating material) for the purpose of reducing both the equilibrium surface tension and dynamic surface tension thereof; wherein the effective amount of the alkylated amino ether is pref. 0.001-20 g per 100 mL of the water-based composition to be used. The above alkylated amino ether compound is preferably such one that its aqueous solution has a dynamic surface tension of <45 dyne/cm at a concentration of ≤5 wt.% at 23°C and shows one bubble per s when subjected to maximum- bubble-pressure method.
