PURPOSE: To provide a novel alkylenedioxyphenyl ether deriv. which has anti- ischemic, memory enhancing and anti-convulsive activity and is useful for the treatment of ischemia and weakened memory or epilepsy.
CONSTITUTION: Formula I (R1 and R2 form alkylene; Z is methylene; R3, R4 are H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, phenyl, etc.; R5 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, phenylalkyl, etc.), and the compd. of formula II or its medicinally acceptable salt; for example, 5-(1- ethoxyethoxy)-4-(4-metylpiperadinyl)-1,3-benzodioxole. The compds. of the formula I and formula II are obtd. by bringing the compds. of formula III and the compds. of formula III and formula IV into reaction with the compd. of formula R5-X (X is an open group).
