To provide an AND gate which all optically functions.
An all-optical AND gate is a nonlinear element comprising an optical resonator and configured to receive first and second amplitude-modulated optical input signals with respective data having binary logic levels, and the nonlinear element has a resonance frequency tuned in a relation to a frequency of at least one optical input signals to output light as an optical output signal having a high logic level only when both of first and second optical input signals have a high logic level, and not to output light substantially as an optical output signal having a low logic level when one or both of optical input signals have a low logic level, and as a result, the optical output signal has an amplitude-modulated binary logic level, and the nonlinear element is formed as a ring on a substrate.
