PURPOSE: To obtain alloy and recording material having partially different spectroreflectances, by preparing alloy having a specified compsn. and different crystal structures at two temp. points higher than room temp. in solid state, and performing partially rapid and nonrapid coolings from high temp. to low temp. points.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy consisting mainly of Cu and contg. 30W50wt% Zn is prepared. The alloy has different crystal structures in solid state at the first temp. higher than room temp. and the second temp. between the first temp. and room temp. If a part of the alloy surface is cooled from the first temp. to the second temp. by rapid cooling, said part has different crystal structure from that of the part cooled nonrapidly to the second temp., partially different spectroreflectances are held in the alloy at the same temp. Rapid cooling rate is set to ≥about 102°C/sec, alloy as nonbulk material, thin film, foil, strip and thin wire, etc. are desirable, crystal particle diameter and difference in spectroreflectances are regulated to ≤about 0.1μ and ≥5% respectively.
