To obtain an alloy sliding contact material excellent in wettability and wear resistance, minimal in wear loss of a mating material of sliding, and having superior sliding contact characteristic by embedding hard grains composed of ceramic grains in the surface of a copper alloy.
An alloy sliding contact material 1 is obtained by embedding hard grains 3, composed of grains of ceramics, such as alumina and silicon carbide, in the surface of a copper alloy 2, such as lead bronze and phosphor bronze. It is preferable to set the area ratio of the sliding contact part, filled with the hard grains 2, at 1-16%. This alloy sliding contact material can be obtained by rubbing the hard grains on the surface of the copper alloy, or by spraying the hard grains by the use of a fluid, such as air, water, and oil, on the surface of the copper alloy, or by adding the hard grains to a powder of the copper alloy, sintering the resultant mixture, and then allowing the hard grains to appear by means of surface working, or by mixing the hard grains with the copper alloy powder and coating a sliding member with the resultant mixture by means of thermal spraying or welding. By using this alloy sliding contact material for a sliding part of cylinder block, valve plate, shoe, etc., of hydraulic pump and motor, their durability can be improved.
