Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an allylamine-based polymer especially useful as a light resistant paper treating agent or the like, to provide an industrially favorable method for producing the polymer in high yield by simple process and to provide a paper treating agent containing the allylamine-based polymer and having excellent light fastness.
SOLUTION: This allylamin-acrylamide-allyl sulfonic acid copolymer has a mono- and di-allylamine-derived unit, an acrylamide-derived unit and an allyl sulfonic acid-derived unit as constituents. The method for producing the copolymer comprises copolymerizing mono- and di-allylamine, acrylamide and allyl sulfonic acid in the presence of a water soluble radical initiator in a polar solvent. and use the copolymer as constituent for producing The paper treating agent contains the allylamine-acrylamide-allyl sulfonic acid copolymer.
