EXAMPLE: α-Isocyanoacetic acid 4-methylanilide.
USE: A fungicide for agriculture and gardening. Showing improved activity against especially powdery mildew of cultivated plants such as cucumber or leaf mold of tomato. Usable as a solid agent or spray.
PROCESS: An α-isocyanoacetic acid compound shown by the formula II (X is alkali metal) is reacted with an aniline compound shown by the formula III in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, etc. in the presence of a condensation agent (e.g., a combination of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide and 1-hydroxybenzotriazole, etc.) at 0W50°C to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
