Abstract:

To provide an alternating combustion fluidized bed furnace which is designed to incinerate or dry refuse or the like by forcing a heat storage body to flow wholly or partially.

Ceramic-made balls, which form heat storage bodies 16 and 17 by sending combustion air to a combustion chamber by way of the heat storage body 17 or 17, are arranged to flow partially or wholly, thereby executing combustion by feeding a fuel separately and recovering waste heat by passing the combustion gas by the heat storage body 16 or 17. The combustion gas which serves for the next combustion is preliminary heated and burnt by passing the combustion gas by the heat storage body 16 or 17. These operations, such as pre-heating and combustion are alternately repeated at the interval of several tens seconds. An object to be incinerated, which is charged into the combustion chamber 12 is dried or incinerated on one hand while the incinerated ashes are arranged to be discharged from an exhaust pipe 20 in the upper part of furnace body 11 into a part of exhaust gas which has not passed the heat storage bodies 16 and 17 and during purged time.
