Abstract:
To provide an alumina-magnesia based castable refractory having corrosion resistance as good as that of conventional ones and excellent durability, by solving the problem of peeling and wear occurring on a crack as a starting point.SOLUTION: The alumina-magnesia based castable refractory is made from a refractory raw material comprising an alumina based raw material, a magnesia based raw material, alumina cement, a calcium aluminosilicate compound, and inevitable impurities, with the calcium aluminosilicate compound having a melting point of lower than 1600°C, and with its primary crystal consisting exclusively of gehlenite (2CaO-AlO-SiO), which crystal is formed upon solidifying the molten compound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
