Title:
ALUMINA-CHROMIA SINTERED COMPACT AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04132656
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title dense sintered compact excellent in resistance to heat shock, wear and corrosion by sintering at a specified temperature a mixture of ceramic matrix powder and agglomerated granules composed of alumina-chromia and unstable zirconia.

CONSTITUTION: A mixture of (A) a ceramic matrix material comprising (1) ≥40wt.% of aluminum oxide, (2) ≤60wt.% of chromium oxide and (3) ≤1.5wt.% of titanium dioxide and/or talc (3MgO.4SiO2.H2O) and (B) 3-70vol.% of agglomerated granules 10-20μm in size consisting of a homogeneous mixture of (4) a raw material of the same composition as that of said ceramic matrix material and (5) unstable zirconia is molded and then sintered at ≥1500°C, thus obtaining the objective sintered compact.
