Title:
ALUMINIZED STEEL SHEET FOR CAN AND PRODUCTION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01152283
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain superior corrosion resistance under a coating film at a low cost and to prevent bimetallic corrosion between steel and Al for a lid by forming an Al layer of a specified thickness as an upper layer by aluminizing and a Cr layer of a specified thickness as a lower layer by electroplating. CONSTITUTION:A Cr layer of 0.005-0.05mum thickness as a lower layer is formed on steel stock by electroplating and an Al layer of >=0.01mum thickness as an upper layer is formed on the lower layer by aluminizing. Since the electrode potential of Cr is between the electrode potential of Al and that of steel, the potential difference between steel and Al is reduced, bimetallic corrosion between them is prevented and corrosion resistance under a coating film can be ensured. Since the Cr layer has a function to galvanically prevent the corrosion of the steel, even when the layer has defects, it has a local corrosion inhibiting effect and prevents the corrosion of the steel satisfactorily in spite of a thin layer thickness.
