Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain aluminosilicate grains having high polishing performance, not scratching the opposite material, excellent in sorption and redispersibility in an aq. system and increasing the mechanical, strength of a body to be filled when used as a filler by providing a specified compsn. and an acicular, platy or columnar form.
SOLUTION: The aluminosilicate grains have a compsn. represented by the formula aM2O.bAl2O3.cSiO2.dRmAn.yH2O, wherein M is Na and/or K, R is one or more selected from the group consisting of Na, K, Ca and Mg, A is one or more selected from the group consisting of CO3, SO4, NO3, OH and Cl, (a) is 1-6, (b) is 2-8, (c) is 21-2, (d) is 0-4, (m) 1-2, (n) is 1-3 and (y) is 0-32. Preferably M is Na, R is Na and A is CO3, or NO3. When the aluminosilicate grains form a spherical aggregate, the aggregate preferably has the principal X-ray diffraction peak in d=0.365±0.015 nm.
