Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the application of this aluminum alloy brazing filler metal to brazing of general aluminum castings and to prevent the generation of a break in brazing even if this brazing filler metal is used in an inclined state by specifying the compsn. of the brazing filler metal.

CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of the aluminum alloy brazing filler metal for low-temp. brazing contains 20 to 28wt.% Cu, 3 to 8wt.% Si and 0.3 to 0.8wt.% Fe and consists of the balance Al and inevitable impurities. As a result, the m. p. is about 520°C and, therefore, the brazing temp. is regulated to about 530 to 540°C. This brazing filler metal is applicable to brazing of general aluminum castings. In addition, the density is about 3.27g/cm3, which is about half the density of Zn-Al brazing filler metals and, therefore, the generation of the break in brazing in the upper part of the spacing of the brazed part is prevented even if the brazing filler metal is disposed and used in the inclined state.
