To produce an aluminum alloy can body easily removable from a die and excellent in formability in neck-in and flanging.
An aluminum alloy ingot contg., by weight, 0.9 to 1.3% Mg, 0.1 to 0.2% Cu, 0.9 to 1.2% Mn, 0.3 to 0.5% Fe and 0.1 to 0.2% Si, and the balance Al with inevitable impuritis is subjected to homogenizing treatment at 560-620°C for 1-10hr, is subjected to hot rolling so as to regulate the rolling rate in the final pass to 300 to 400m/min, the reduction of area to 40 to 60% and the finishing temp. to 290 to 330°C, is annealed at 300 to 400°C for 1 to 10hr and is subjected to cold rolling at the reduction of area of 75 to 90% to obtain an Al alloy sheet in which the half value width of the angle of diffraction of the X-ray diffraction intensity in the (200) plane is regulated to 0.15 to 0.25°. The bottomed cylindrical can body obtd. by subjecting the Al alloy sheet to drawing with ironing is subjected to heat treatment to regulate the half value width of the angle of diffraction of the X-ray diffraction intensity in the (220) plane to 0.20 to 0.33° and the abundance ratio of the (220) plane to 55 to 75%.
