Title:
ALUMINUM ALLOY CAST MEMBER FOR FORGING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06256880
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the strength and forgeability of a cast member by specifying the content of Mg, Si, Cu, Mn, Fe and Cr in an Al alloy and specifying the dendrite secondary arm space and the grain size of crystallized products.

CONSTITUTION: The compsn. of an Al alloy is constituted of, by weight, 0.8 to 1.2% Mg, 0.7 to l.0% Si, 0.3 to 0.6% Cu, 0.15 to 0.3% Mn and total ≤0.7% of two kinds of Fe and Cr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. In the forged member of this Al alloy, the compsn. is formed in such a manner that the dendrite secondary arm space (DAS) is regulated to ≤40μm and the average grain size of crystallized products is regulated to ≤8μm. This Al alloy is subjected to continuous casting, is thereafter subjected to heat treatment and is then forged into a product.
