Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy for casting having excellent strength and toughness and hardly deteriorating strength and toughness in the high temperature environment and to provide a heat treating method therefor.
SOLUTION: A cast body haing a chemical composition containing, by weight, 0.5 to 1.5% Cu, 0.3 to 0.7% Mg and 6.5 to 7.5% Si, and the balance Al is subjected to stabilizing treatment to control its tensile strength to ≥320 MPa, and elongation to ≥5%. Moreover, the aging treatment temperature of the stabilizing treatment is controlled to 200 to 300°C, preferably, to 220 to 260°C, and the aging treatment time of the stabilizing treatment is controlled to be longer than the aging treatment time capable of obtaining the maximum strength.
