Abstract:

To provide a lightweight aluminum alloy material with low elution activity for a cooling system which is excellent in thermal conductivity, workability and castability, and in which the elution of alloy compositional elements into a cooling liquid such as pure water is suppressed as much as possible, and, when used, e.g., as a cooling system constituting member for a fuel cell, particular necessity for adding rust preventability to a cooling liquid itself or the application of coating treatment for the purpose of rust prevention to the internal face of the cooling system constituting member is eliminated.

The aluminum alloy material with low elution activity for a cooling system contains manganese (Mn) as a compound of Al4Mn and/or Al6Mn in the range of 0.5 to 2.0 mass% or silicon (Si) as a silicon element in the range of 0.5 to 20 mass%, and further, contains the other alloy compositional element(s) in the range where the total of the elution coefficient(s) thereof does not exceed 1.1.
