To provide an aluminum alloy sheet for a battery case having excellent pressure resistance and laser weldability, and to provide a battery case made of the alloy sheet.
Disclosed is an aluminum alloy sheet for a battery case having a composition comprising, by mass, 0.10 to 0.60% Si, 0.05 to 0.60% Fe, 0.70 to 1.0% Cu, 0.10 to 1.80% Mn, 0.70 to 1.50% Mg, 0.10 to 0.20% Zr and 0.03 to 0.25% Ti, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. The aluminum alloy sheet can further comprise 0.02% B and 0.35% Cr. This aluminum alloy sheet is molded, and is thereafter subjected to aging treatment, so as to be a battery case. This battery case has excellent pressure resistance because an intermediate phase of Al2CuMg is sufficiently exhibited by the aging treatment, and further, laser welding at a high speed is possible because the Cu content is controlled to the above specified one.
