Title:
ALUMINUM ALLOY SHEET EXCELLENT IN DROP SHOCK RESISTANCE AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06172906
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an Al alloy sheet excellent in drop shock resistance by applying specific cold rolling to a cast plate of an alloy having a specific composition consisting of Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, and Al and forming a proper intermetallic compound.

CONSTITUTION: A molten alloy which has a composition consisting of, by weight, ≤0.20% Si, ≤0.80% Fe, ≤0.15% Cu, 0.20-1.5O% Mn, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities and further containing, as necessary, one or more kinds among ≤5% Mg, ≤1% Cr, and ≤1% Zn is cast into a plate of 2-15mm thickness. This casting is done by continuously supplying the molten metal to the position between respective outside peripheral surfaces of a couple of rotating cooled molds facing each other. The resulting cast plate is subjected to cold rolling at ≤70% draft after final heating. By this rolling, the metallic structure is regulated so that the size of an intermetallic compound becomes ≤20μm at its maximum and its space factor becomes <4%. By this method, the Al alloy sheet excellent in drawability, pressure resistance, tearability, corrosion resistance, etc., and having superior drop shock resistance can be obtained.
