To provide an aluminum alloy valve spring retainer having high strength and excellent in abrasion resistance in a valve spring contact surface and a manufacturing method therefor.
In this valve spring retainer 1 having a taper hole 10 for fixing an engine valve 4 and having the contact surface 16 with a valve spring 6 in the peripheral edge part, the valve spring retainer contains 9.5 to 11% of Si, 3.5 to 4.5% of Cu, 0.1 to 0.5% of Mn, 0.3 to 1.0% of Mg, 0.45% or less of Fe, 0.10 % or less of Cr, 0.3% or less of Zn and 0.15% or less of Ti in wt.%, has a residual part composed of Al and the other trace quantity component, and is composed of an aluminum alloy having a metallic structure not more than 5 μm in an average particle size of an Si deposit after T6 treatment. A coating film layer is arranged on the contact surface for improving abrasion resistance, and the coating film layer is not formed on an inner peripheral surface of the taper hole.
