Abstract:

To provide an aluminum alloy wire for bolts, which is excellent in workability upon processing into a bolt and is capable of yielding a bolt with sufficient strength.

The aluminum alloy wire for bolts comprises, by mass%, 0.60-1.5% Si, 0.02-0.40% Fe, 0.50-1.2% Cu, 0.50-1.1% Mn, 0.70-1.3% Mg, 0.01-0.30% Cr, 0.005-0.50% Zn, 0.01-0.20% Ti, 0.05-0.20% Zr and the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities. Here, some portions of Si and Mg are contained in the form of Mg2Si, and the ratio of the Mg2Si content to the total content of Mn and Cr (Mg2Si/Mn+Cr) is 1.0-2.1.
