Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide optimum fiber orientation and laminating direction and an optimum combination of metallic matrixes when a long carbon fiber matrix is used as a reinforcement among the fiber-reinforced composite materials suffi ciently satisfying special characteristic conditions in a wear-resistant member needing high wear resistance and a low counterpart attacking property.

CONSTITUTION: In the material used in a mechanical sliding part with the sliding face abutting on a mechanical member and a bending stress acting on the sliding part 5, plural long carbon fiber bundle sheets 3 wherein a long carbon fiber 1 is unidirectionally arranged are laminated in plural layers, the sheet 3 is impregnated with a metallic matrix of Al, etc., and formed. Consequently, a fiber-reinforced composite material for a wear-resistant member having high wear resistance, low couterpart attacking property and high strength is obtained.
