To provide an aluminum base material treating method which is suitably applicable to an aluminum base material, and to provide the aluminum base material excellent in corrosion resistance and adhesiveness.
This aluminum base material treating method comprises a step of performing chemical conversion treatment with a chemical conversion treating agent consisting of zirconium ions and/or titanium ions, fluorine ions, phosphoric acid ions and soluble epoxy resin. The content of the zirconium ions and/or titanium ions is 20-500 ppm, the content of the fluorine ions is at least six times that of the zirconium ions and/or titanium ions in terms of mole ratio, the content of the phosphoric acid ions is 20-500 ppm. The soluble epoxy resin contains at least 0.1 mole of -NH2 and/or -NH3+ for the resin of 100g, and the pH value of the chemical conversion treating agent is 2.5 to 4.5.
