Abstract:

To provide a bearing alloy excellent in lubricity and causing no environmental pollution problem.

This alloy is an aluminum alloy which contains at least 5 wt./wt.% bismuth and in which bismuth is uniformly distributed. At this time, the bismuth distributed in the form of very fine grains of ≤5 μm diameter comprises about 3.5 wt./wt.% of the alloy and the bismuth distributed in the form of globular grains of 10-40 μm diameter comprises at least 2 wt./wt.% of the alloy, and further, these very fine grains and globular grains are uniformly distributed through the whole aluminum matrix.
