Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of looseness in a bearing, by mixing reinforced fiber in the rotary supporting part of a brake drum and suppressing thermal expansion of a hub part. CONSTITUTION:A wearing resistant liner is integrally formed with a sliding part 2 engaged to a brake shoe of a brake drum main unit 1 made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, while a rotary supporting part 7, in which the main unit 1 is rotatably supported with an internal peripheral side of a hub part 4 to an axle spindle 5 through a bearing 6, is constituted. Reinforcing fiber is mixed in the rotary supporting part 7 throughout a prescribed depth (d) from the internal peripheral surface of the hub part 4 and a reinforcing fiber compound body part is formed. In consequence, thermal expansion in this part is suppressed, and loosening of the bearing can be prevented while strength is improved and durability can be increased. As the reinforcing fiber, alumina fiber, carbon fiber, boron fiber, etc. are used.
