To provide an aluminum matrix composite wire and electric wire excellent in the mechanical characteristics and conductivity, as well as, a manufacturing method of the aluminum matrix composite wire.SOLUTION: The aluminum matrix composite wire has an aluminum matrix, and a dispersion that is dispersed inside of the aluminum matrix and formed by reacting a part or all of the additive with aluminum in the aluminum matrix, and the content of the dispersion is, in carbon conversion, 0.25 mass% or larger and 2.00 mass% or smaller. The tensile strength σUTS of the composite electric wire is a numerical value with a lower limit exceeding 119.9 MPa, the upper limit value is smaller than a numerical value expressed by the formula (1) or the formula (2). σUTS=92.7ε+129.1 (here, 0<ε<1) (1), σUTS=9.26ε+212.53 (here,1≤ε) (2), in the formula (1) and (2), ε=2×ln(d0/d), d0 expresses a wire diameter (mm) before cold drawing, d expresses a wire diameter (mm) after cold drawing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
