Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the AlN powder to yield a sintering body which obviates the degradation in sintering density and has an excellent thermal conductivity by coating the surface of primary particles which form flocculated particles with ≥1 kinds of the oxide, oxynitride or nitride of Y at a prescribed weight.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of the AlN powder in which the primary particles of about ≤2μm average particle size are flocculated and which has about ≤10μm, more particularly about ≤5μm average particle size is coated in the following manner: The surfaces of the primary particles consisting of the above- mentioned AlN powder are coated with ≥1 kinds of the oxide, oxynitride or nitride of the Y at about 0.1 to 10wt.%, preferably about 0.2 to 7wt.% in terms of metal. The sintered body which obviates the degradation in the sintering density and has the excellent thermal conductivity as compared with the AlN powder formed by the conventional method of dispersing a sintering assistant in an AlN crystal is obtd. from the AlN powder having this coating.
