Title:
ALUMINUM SINTERED ALLOY AND PRODUCTION OF THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5597447
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide Al-Si sintered alloy for sliding member having a good wear resistance against the body and mating slider by a method wherein solid lubricant powder is added to mixed powder of Al and Si, is mixed and pressed-formed then sintered in inert atmosphere without being melted.

CONSTITUTION: An alloy essentially consisting of Al, or Al plus Si, and containing one or more of Cu, Mg, Ni, Mn, Fe, Zn, etc. is crushed to -30W+350 mesh by using atomizing method. This is mixed with 8W30wt% of fine Si particulates having diameter less than 10μ at maximum. To this, 40wt% or less of solid lubricant is added which comprises 3W30wt% of graphite, 5W40wt% of one or more of metal sulfides such as WS2 and MoS2, and 5W30wt% of one or more of fluorides such as CaF2, BaF2, LiF, etc. The mixture is molded by press, sintered in inert atmosphere at a temperature lower than the melting point of mixed material, and is provided with plastic deformation by extrusion rolling. In this manner, Al sintered alloy containing fine Si particles and having a good slider property is provided.
