Title:
ALUMINUM-TITANIUM TYPE HEAT RESISTANT INTERMETALLIC ALLOY WITH LOW DENSITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02259043
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a low-density, Al-Ti type heat resistant intermetallic alloy excellent in ductility and compressive strength characteristic by specifying a composition consisting of Ti, Mn, Cr, and Al.

CONSTITUTION: This alloy is a low-density, heat resistant Al-Ti alloy excellent in ductility and compressive strength characteristic, having a composition which consists of, by atom, about 15-35% Ti, about 3-15% of Mn or Cr or Mn-Cr compound, and the balance essentially Al and further contains, if necessary, ≤about 9% V or ≤ about 9% of one element among Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, Mo, and W and in which a part of Mn or Cr is substituted by one element among Fe, Cu, and Ni and also having a composition represented, preferably, by Al66 Mn6Ti28, Al66Cr6Ti28, Al66Mn6Ti23V5, or Al66Cr6Ti23V5. Moreover, this alloy has excellent oxidation resistance and high temp. characteristic and also has a low-density cubic structure showing superior density - (corrected strength). Further, this alloy has proper ductility at low temp. The cracking resistance of this alloy can be increased by additional V addition in particular.
