NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (A is single bond, methylene, etc.; D is single bond or 1W4C alkylene; E is single bond, 1W4C oxyalkylene, etc.; U is O or S; Z is carboxy, 2W5C alkoxycarbonyl, etc.; R1 is H, 1W10C alkyl, etc.; R2 is H or 1W4C alkyl; R3 is H, halogen or 1W4C alkyl, provided that R3 is not halogen when D is single bond) and salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 4-[2-(4-Pentylcinnamoyl)aminophenylthiomethyl)cinnamic acid.
USE: With inhibitory action of 5α-reductase and useful for preventing and treating diseases caused by excess production of dihydrotestosterone by the 5α-reductase, e.g. male pattern alopecia, acne and prostatic hypertrophy.
PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III and, as necessary, saponification or esterification or both are carried out to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
