PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a constituting component of a medicine carrier capable of efficiently and safely carrying out transfection of a nucleic acid, a polynucleotide, etc., to a cell and delivery of a medicine, a peptide, etc., to an objective site. SOLUTION: This mew compound is an amidine derivative of formula I [A is an aromatic ring, R1 to R4 are each H, an 8-25C alkyl, etc.; X and Y are each O or S; (p) and (q) are each 0 or 1; (l) to (n) are each 0-6], e.g. 3,5- bis[(N-dodecylcarbamoyl)methoxy]benzenecarboxyamidine. The compound of formula I is obtained by converting CN portion of a compound of formula II such as 3,5-bis[(N-dodecylcarbamoyl)methoxy]benzenecarbonitrile to amidino group. The compound of formula I constitutes a medicine carrier together with a phospholipid, etc., and used for treatment and diagnosis by encapsulating a pharmaceutically acceptable and pharmacologically active ingredient such as an anticancer agent, a biologically active ingredient and a diagnostic material therein.
