Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of formula I [R1 is XCO or XSO; Z and E are respectively 0-4 or 0-2 amino acid residue such as Phe, His, Ile, etc., which are peptide-bonded to each other; Q is 0 or NR6; Y is formula II, X' etc.; X and X' are each 1-20 C alkyl, etc. having formula III etc.; R11-R13 are 1-18 C alkyl, etc., 2-8 C alkylene in which two are combined and can be interrupted by NR14 etc.; An- is an anion; R2, R5 and R6 are each H or A; R3 R7 and R14are each H, Ar, etc.; R4 is H and NH2, H and OH, etc.; n is 1 or 2; t is 0-5; A is 1-8 C alkyl; Ar is phenyl, naphthyl, etc.] and their salts.

EXAMPLE: 4-Trimethylammonio-butlyl-Phe-Cly-AHCP-Ile(N-2-amino-5,6-dimethyl-3- pyrazinyl-methylamide)chloride.

USE: Renin depressor.

PROCESS: A functional derivative of a compound of formula I is solvolyzed or hydrogenolyzed to obtain a compound of formula I.
