EXAMPLE: The compound of formula III.
USE: Amylase inhibiting agent. The agent controls the metabolism of carbohydrates in human and animals, and is effective e.g. to diabetes, obesity, adiposis, etc. Since the compound suppresses the decomposition of carbohydrates by microorganisms in the oral cavity, it is also effective for the prevention of dental caries by adding to cakes, sweetened foods, drinks, etc.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by heating the compound of formula IV (m and n are 0 or integer; m+n is 1W30, pref. 1W8) or the compound of formula V in the presence of an acidic ion exchange resin, with an alcohol of formula ROH, pref. at 50W100°C.
