PURPOSE: To obtain a novel chelate resin having improved complex forming ability to metallic ion and separating ability, by introducting a multiple ligand consisting of L-lysine-Nα,Nα,N-triacetic acid through the amino group at the -position thereof to polystyrene resin.
CONSTITUTION: L-Lysine, a dibasic amino acid, is reacted with Cu2+ to give a complex compound wherein the amino group at the α position in the amino acid is protected by complex formation, the complex compound is reacted with an amine reacting group-containing polystyrene resin (e.g. sulfonium resin obtained by reacting chloromethylated polystyrene resin with dimethyl sulfide) and hydrolyzed to give a chelate resin to which L-lysine is selectively introduced through the amino group at the position of the L-lysine. Further carboxymethyl group is introduced to the primary and secondary amino groups in the chelate resin to give the aimed resin containing a multiple ligand consisting of L-lysine-Nα,Nα,N-triacetic acid shown by formula.
