PURPOSE: To provide an aminosugar active compound composed of an aminosugar, a linker and a carrier molecule and useful in treating infectious diseases.
CONSTITUTION: An aminosugar active compound is represented by formula 1:X-B-Y (wherein X is a carrier residue such as ferricrocin; B is a linker such as a sugar which may be omitted; and Y is an aminomonosaccfiaride residue), excepting salmycins A, B, C and D; formula II [wherein R is (-OH)2, OH and H, NH2 and H, NOR' (wherein R' is phenyl or 1-10C alkyl) or NOH; and X and Y are each H1; formula III (wherein R' is OH); or formula IV. The compound of formula II wherein R is NOH can be obtained by the hydrolysis of salmycin A or D. The compound of formula III can be obtained by the hydrolysis of salmycin or the disaccharide obtainable therefrom or by the oxygenic cleavage thereof after the reduction. Further, the compound of formula IV can be obtained by the hydrolysis of (substituted) salmycin.
