Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound exhibiting excellent antibacterial action on Gram-negative bacteria and useful as an antibacterial agent, a bactericide, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I [R is (substituted)amino; R1 is H or lower alkyl; R2 is H or OH-protecting group; R3 is H, imino-protecting group or imino-substituent; R4 is lower alkylene; R5 is H or carboxy-protecting group; wavy line is bond having R, S configuration], e.g. (1R,5,6S)-2-[(3S,5R)-1-t- butoxycarbonyl-5-sulfamidoxymethylpyrrolidin-3-ylthio]-6-[(1R-1-hydroxyethyl]-1- methyl-1-carba-2-penem-3-carboxylic acid diphenylmethyl ester. The compound of formula I can be produced by condensing a compound of formula II (X is eliminable group) with a pyrrolidinylthiol of formula III (R6 is H or thiol- protecting group) and, as necessary, subjecting the product to the modification and deprotection of the groups R, R2, R3 and R5 and the introduction of the group R3, etc.
