To provide an ammonia absorption-type refrigerator free from the generation of surging in a compressor even when the refrigerating load is reduced.
In this ammonia absorption-type refrigerator comprising a compressor 7 for ammonia vapor, on the way of a first ammonia vapor transferring pipe 11 for transferring ammonia vapor from an evaporator which generates the ammonia vapor to cool a cooled fluid, to an absorber, an ammonia vapor returning pipe 8 provided with a flow control valve 9 on the way, is mounted for returning ammonia vapor discharged from an outlet side of the compressor 7 to an inlet side, and a vapor control device 10 is mounted for detecting the amount of ammonia vapor supplied to the compressor 7, and controlling the flow control valve 9 to adjust the amount of ammonia vapor supplied to the compressor 7 to prevent the generation of surging in the compressor 7.
