To provide an ammonia oxidizing tower reduced in the discharge amt. of residual ammonia and nitrogen oxides and nitrous oxide being by- products.
In an ammonia oxidizing tower 33 wherein a gas disperser 5, an ammonia oxidizing catalyst bed 6 and a denitration catalyst bed 7 are integrally formed, an ammonia gas mixer 3 is disposed between the ammonia oxidizing catalyst bed 6 and the nitration catalyst bed 7 and at least two bypass gas inlet pipes 10 are arranged at the throat (throttle) part 4 of the ammonia gas mixer 3 so as to supply ammonia gas to the throat part 4 and the ammonia- containing gas to be introduced into the ammonia oxidizing tower 33 is preliminarily divided into two portions and one of them is introduced into the ammonia oxidizing catalyst bed 6 and the other one of them is introduced into the ammonia gas mixer from the gas inlet pipes.
