Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of ammonia using microorganism in which electric power having high energy density higher than that of light can be used as an energy source.SOLUTION: There is provided a production method of ammonia in which electric power can be used as energy, and in a state of controlling nitrogen metabolism of microorganism having a nitrogen fixation function, electric power is applied to the microorganism as an energy source, for causing the microorganism to produce ammonia. The microorganism is an autotrophism iron oxidation fungus, and preferably the microorganism belongs to Acidithiobacillus. Preferably, control of nitrogen metabolism is suppression of ammonia metabolism, more preferably, suppression of ammonia metabolism or inhibition of expression or activation of glutamine synthetase, further preferably, inhibition of glutamine synthetase. Using the glutamine synthetase inhibitor, suppression of ammonia metabolism is performed, and more preferably, the glutamine synthetase inhibitor is methionine sulfoximine.SELECTED DRAWING: None
