Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a high mol.wt. polymer which can prevent an increase in viscosity of an amphiphatic polymer and is useful as a polymeric surfactant by copolymerizing a nonionic, water-soluble monomer with a reactive surfactant in the presence of a colloid forming agent.
SOLUTION: A nonionic, water-soluble monomer in an amt. of 10 to 99.9wt.% is copolymerized with 0.1 to 90wt.% reactive surfactant, pref. reactive surfactant having a carboxyl group, is polymerized in an aq. medium in the presence of a colloid forming agent to obtain an amphiphatic polymer. The colloid forming agent is one member or a combination of two or more members selected from among inorg. acids, org. acids, inorg. bases, and org. bases and used in an amt. of 0.1 to 10mol based on one mol of the reactive surfactant.
