Abstract:
To obtain a new α-amylase inhibitor and to provide a pharmaceutical preparation and food effective for the prevention, amelioration and treatment of obesity and diabetes.
This α-amylase inhibitor is composed of an extract of the leaf of Aria alnifolia with water, a hydrophilic organic solvent or their mixture or a compound expressed by formula 1 (R is H, pyranose or its derivative). This invention further relates to an antiobesic agent and antidiabetic agent each containing the α-amylase inhibitor as an active component and a food containing the α-amylase inhibitor.
