To obtain an analgesic action agent having analgesic and antiinflammatory actions and almost no adverse, comprising an extract of Incarvillea sinensis Lam. as a plant to be an active ingredient effects and an organic solvent or water.
The entire plant of Incarvillea sinensis Lam. is extracted, in a fresh state as it is or in a dried and powdered state, with an organic solvent (e.g. methanol) or water (including hot water) at a room temperature or under reflux to given an extract of Incarvillea sinensis Lam. with the organic solvent or water. The extract contains incarvillateine or other monoterpene alkaloid and these compounds have analgesic and antiinflammatory actions. The prepared extract is applied in the form of powder, granule, tablet, capsule or solution by oral administration, parenteral administration, inhalation or administration through rectum. A dose is 0.1-200mg/kg weight per time and the administration is carried out once to five times daily. Incarvillea sinensis Lam. is a plant of the family Bignoniaceae, used for treatment of cold, has detoxifying action and is used as a folk medicine in China.
