Abstract:
To obtain an analgesic antiinflammatory agent comprising an extracted component from a plant hardly having an adverse action as an active ingredient.
This analgesic antiinflammatory agent comprises friedelin, friedelan-3-α-ol or friedelan-3-β-ol which is contained in an extracted essence of Maytenus ilicifolia with an alcohol and is separated from the essence as an active ingredient. These friedelane compounds are confirmed to have an antitumor action, consequently, will not cause an adverse effect such as gastrointestinal injury (development of tumor) shown by nonsteroid antiphlogistic- sedative-medicine and is useful as an analgesic antiinflammatory agent.
