To enlarge the range of depths to which an anchor rod can be driven and enhance the accuracy of driving the anchor rod.
A driver is mounted on a slender frame 2 in such a way as to be movable back and forth in its longitudinal direction. The driver (rock drill, etc.), is attached to a wire rope 16 formed into a loop as it is wound on pulleys 18, 19 which are provided, respectively, at the front and rear of the frame 2. A driving unit (hand operated winch, etc.), 17 for towing the wire rope 15 is mounted on the frame 2. During construction work, an anchor rod is attached to the driver. An anchor rod driving device is secured to some support structure provided in a construction site. The driver is operated and is towed and moved forward by the wire rope 16 with the turn of the handle 17a of the driving unit 17 to drive the anchor rod. A sufficient reaction to the driving can be secured, and a large pushing force can be obtained by the driving unit 17, so that the range of depths to which the anchor rod can be driven is enlarged. Since the driver moving along the frame 2 does not deflect, the anchor rod can be driven straight.
