To provide an anechoic chamber that attains cost reduction as compared with the case that the installation area of a radio wave absorber having a small coefficient of TE wave reflection (having superior oblique incidence characteristics to a TE wave) is set on the entire side wall surface, and secures necessary site attenuation characteristics by limiting the installation region of the radio wave absorber to a suitable partial region on the side wall surface.
Radio wave absorbers arranged on gable wall surfaces 14, 15 of the anechoic chamber 100 are designed for vertical incidence. A radio wave absorber arranged on a ceiling surface 11 has a smaller coefficient of TE wave reflection (has superior oblique incidence characteristics for a TE wave) than the radio wave absorbers arranged on gable wall surfaces 14, 15. Radio wave absorbers arranged on side wall surfaces 12, 13 have parts which become larger in coefficient of TE wave reflection continuously or step by step from the side of a floor surface 17 to the side of the ceiling surface 11 over the entire regions of the side wall surfaces 12, 13 in a lateral direction.
