PURPOSE: To obtain a imidazole derivative useful as the angiotensin II receptor antagonist for the treatment for the disturbance in cardiac rhythm such as reperfusion arrhythmia or the like after ischemia.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula [X, Y and Z are each N or CR3 (R2 is H, halogen, nitro, pentafluorophenyl, cyano, alkyl, phenyl or the like); R1 is alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, (CH2)m-B-(CH2)n-R4 (R4 is H, alkyl or cycloalkyl; m is 0 to 5; n is 1 to 5; B is O, NR7 or S; R7 is H, alkyl, arylalkyl, phenyl or the like), benzyl or the like; A is ≤4, preferably ≤2 of biphenyl substituted R14 or R15 (R14 is halogen, NO2, CN, OH, alkyl or the like; R15 is H, alkyl, aryl or the like); L is alkanediyl; q is 0 or 1], e.g. 2-n- propyl-1-[2'n-propylaminocarbonylaminosulfonylbiphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-4- methylthioimidazole-5-carboxylic acid.
