Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an ophthalmic composition which contains an ACE inhibitor, in some cases, additionally a CA inhibitor and is used for treatment of glaucoma and for ocular hypertension accompanied thereby. CONSTITUTION: This ophthalmic composition contains (A) an ACE(angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor represented by formula I [R is H, phenyl, 1- naphthyl, pyridyl, amino; n is 1-5; R<1> is H, an alkyl, a phenylalkyl; A is formula II (m is 0-2; X is CH2 , S, SO; Y is CHR<3> , NR<3> ; R<1> α . is R<1> ; R<2> is H, an alkyl, phenyl; R<4> is H, an alkyl; R<3> is H, or incorporate with R<2> form a group of formula III or with R<4> to form a group of formula IV or formula V and in some cases, (B) a CA (carbonic anhydrase) inhibitor of formula VI [R<6> is H; R<7> is formula VII (R<8> and R<9> are each H, an alkyl) ; R<6> and R<7> may incorporate to form a group of formula VIII (R<10> is H, an alkanoyl)] in amounts of 0.005-2.5wt.% respectively or only A by 0.01-5wt.%. Both components or only the component A is topically administered to eyes daily in a dose of 0.005-1.25mg, particularly of 0.05-0.5mg.
