Title:
ANGLE DISPLACEMENT MEASURING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS52104260
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
1520154 Helmet sight system ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON) Ltd 7 Feb 1977 [24 Feb 1976] 07229/76 Heading G1A In a helmet sight system for an aircraft pilot to enable the pilot to direct a weapon merely by looking at the target, the helmet carries at least one set of L.E.D.s on one side of the helmet, preferably arranged equidistantly apart. The helmet carries sighting means 11 for directing the pilot's vision and thus defining the line of sight. A helmet angular position sensor 9, also Fig. 5, is fitted below the windscreen. The sensor comprises two rectilinear slits 31 positioned, as shown, Fig. 5 in front of a linear array of light sensitive charge coupled devices 33. Thus the angular position of any L.E.D., say 3, will determine where the "V"-shaped beam formed by slits 31 intersects the array 33 to provide an angular position measurement. In a preferred system the L.E.D's are repeatedly operated in sequence to provide a three dimensional measurement. Alternatively the light may be distinguished by filters or different wavelength light sources.
