To provide an angle of rotation sensor which shortens time τ required for calculating absolute angle, and does not require a complicated circuit.
The angle of rotation sensor 1 is provided with: gears for detection 3 to 4 rotating by linking to a steering shaft; a magnetic sensor 32 for detecting the angle of rotation of the gear for detection 3; a magnetic sensor 42 for detecting the angle of rotation of the gear for detection 4; and an operation processing part 5 for calculating the periodicity of the magnetic sensor 32 based on the angle of rotation detected with the magnetic sensor 32 and the angle of rotation detected with the magnetic sensor 42, and then calculating the angle of rotation of the steering shaft based on the calculated periodicity and the angle of rotation detected with the magnetic sensor 32. Here, the least common multiple of the period of magnetic sensor 32 and the period of magnetic sensor 42 becomes over the rotation range of the steering shaft.
